Nass Watershed Technical Committee
The Nass Watershed Technical Committee (NWTC) provides a forum for discussion of technical issues related to fisheries management and salmon biology for Nass First Nations and Fisheries and Oceans, Canada (DFO), with participation by British Columbia when appropriate from time to time. The NWTC is meant to complement other existing fisheries processes and is not intended to replace or duplicate other bodies.
Currently, four First Nations regularly participate in the process spanning the lower Nass to the headwaters. These include the Gitksan, Gitanyow, Metlakatla, and Lax Kw’alaams First Nations. However the process is open to all Nations in the Nass watershed, including the Nisga’a and other Tsimshian Nations.
